Volunteer Opportunities at FPC
Throughout the following pages, you will find a listing of the many ways you can become a volunteer here at FPC. How do you apply? Simply contact the person listed, and they can give you more information and answer your questions. Christian Education

Children’s Ministry
Sunday School Teacher. Teach for 4-5 weeks. Curriculum, training, and materials are provided.
Lower Elementary Leader. Help with weekly and quarterly events.
Upper Elementary Leader. Help with weekly and monthly events.
Vacation Bible School. Help with VBS and/or serve in advance helping plan the event.
Fall Festival. Help with Fall Festival held on the last Wednesday of October, and/or serve in advance helping plan the event.
Member of Children’s Ministry Subcommittee (of the Christian Education Committee). Participate in a
monthly meeting and help with overall direction of the ministry.
Youth Ministry
Small Group Teacher. Teach for 4-5 weeks. Curriculum, training, and materials are provided.
Middle School Leader. Help with our weekly middle school youth group meetings and special events.
High School Leader. Help with our weekly high school youth group meetings and special events.
High School Meal Provider. Provide a meal for one or more of the high school youth group meetings.
Special Event Chaperone. Chaperone one or more youth ministry special events, such as a retreat, lock-in, scavenger hunt, etc.
Member of Youth Ministry Subcommittee (of the Christian Education Committee). Participate in a monthly meeting and help with overall direction of the ministry.
Member of the High School Summer Mission Trip Planning Team. Participate in team meetings and help plan the summer mission trip.
Adult Ministry
Midweek Bible Study or Special Class Teacher. Teach a mid-week series of classes or lead a single session or short series on a special topic.
Member of Adult Education Subcommittee (of the Christian Education Committee). Participate in monthly subcommittee meeting and help with overall direction of the ministry.
Men’s Ministry or Women’s Ministry. Assist with facilitating an existing group or the formation of a new group for men or women.
Overall Christian Education Ministry
Office Support. Provide help with behind-the-scenes administrative tasks for big projects or on a regularly recurring basis.
Website. Help create and post content to our website.
Congregational Care
Data Input Volunteer. Input attendance and visitor information from friendship pads into church data base. Basic computer skills and accuracy required. Training provided.
Data Input Volunteer. Input information from Director of Congregational Care, Deacon reports, and visitation cards into church data base. Basic computer skills, accuracy, and confidentiality required. Training provided.
Stephen Ministry
Stephen Minister. Give care and support to one person once per week, attend monthly supervisory meetings, visit those in hospital approximately once per month, and handle Stephen Ministry Table once per month after Sunday worship. Fifty hours of training required. Training is not ongoing and provided periodically as needed.
Deacons
Blood Bank Volunteer. Assist Deacons to organize, market, and coordinate with the blood bank on a quarterly basis. Training provided.
Transportation Volunteer. As needed, transport members to church, special events, doctors appointments, airport, etc. Valid driver’s license and elderly friendly vehicle required. Directions provided.
Greeters. Greet those attending Sunday worship at the doors of the church usually on monthly assignment. Welcoming demeanor and smile required. Direction provided.
Visitation. Visit members in care facilities or confined to homes once per month to render love and support and report back to Director of Congregational Care. Compassionate and friendly demeanor required. Training provided.
Reception Volunteer. Assist in preparing, serving, and cleaning up at memorial/funeral/special occasion receptions as needed. Ability to be on feet and serve required. Direction provided.
Flower Volunteer. Arrange flowers on Sundays into bud vases and/or deliver to those in hospital or for special remembrances. Compassionate heart and transportation required.
Communion Preparation & Clean-up. Assist and prepare communion elements on Saturday prior to Communion Sunday and clean communion utensils and dishes for storage in kitchen after communion on Sunday. Diligence and organization required.
Communion Server. Serve communion elements during Sunday morning worship generally once per month. Prior or present service as an Elder or Deacon and ability to move around freely required.
Usher. Provide bulletins and direction, handle offering plates, count attendance and seat attendees at Sunday morning worship. Friendly demeanor and ability to be mobile required.
Friendship Pad Collector. Collect attendance sheets from Friendship Pads after last Sunday service from each pew in sanctuary. Diligence and ability to be mobile required.
Welcome Mug Decorator. Prepare coffee mugs for distribution to first time visitors at the Welcome Center. Artistic flair desired.
Preschool

Story time Readers. You can volunteer to read to students in the 4 year old classes at the end of the day (12:30-1:00 p.m.) either sporadically or on a regular basis.
Toy Washers. We would love several adults to run our toys through the commercial dishwasher once a month. This would require 2-3 hours of your time.
Extra Hands. Anytime that you would like to volunteer in a classroom to be an extra helping hand, we would love your help. Requires no special skills beyond a loving heart and a gentle spirit.
