PRESBYTERIAN CUBA PARTNERS NETWORK
US and Cuban churches have enjoyed similar partnerships for close to 40 years. There is a whole network of experience, history, and support for all churches involved. Pat Nordbrock from FPCN, Pat Arner from Covenant Presbyterian in Fort Myers, and Graham Hart, former Presbyter of Peace River, attended the recent Partner Network Conference in New Orleans. Several Cuban pastors were in attendance as well as the President of the Evangelical Seminary of Theology in Matanzas. While there, we heard about the need for funding for four major Presbyterian youth events, which our church has been able to supply. The work of the Presbyterian Church in Cuba continues to be critical as youth and adults are being drawn away from mainline denominations by new churches without solid theological teachings. A youth camp was just held, centering around being Presbyterian, being Christian, and why the history, policies and traditions are valuable and enduring. Your Missions Committee supports this work and through your giving, is able to support the efforts being made in Cuba to continue to strengthen and grow the faith communities there.
Rev. Ary Fernandez Alban and Rev. Beidy Casas Aragon, are the pastors of our partner church, Central Presbyterian Reformed Church in Mantanzas, Cuba. Husband and wife, they are vibrant, enthusiastic, dedicated and faithful leaders.
The partnership between our congregations is based on a mutual exchange of ideas, resources, prayers, activities, studies, culture and collegiality, all in the service of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
