Cindy Esler joined First Presbyterian in 2015, but she has vivid memories of seeing the beautiful lily cross on her first visit to the church with her Grandfather on Easter 1956. Cindy has served as a Deacon for six years, a preschool worker for three years, as a member of the Preschool Board, a communion preparer, and as an usher and greeter. A former Methodist, Cindy is also active in a Women’s Bible Study. Cindy was a kindergarten teacher for 38 years in Walled Lake, Michigan. Cindy holds a BA degree in Education from Bowling Green University and did graduate work at Michigan State University. Widowed in 2017, Cindy is “Nana” to three grandchildren, ages two, six, and eight, and “Mom” to a son and his wife.
Jacque Foust is currently in his second term as an Elder, and has been active on the Missions, Membership, and St. John’s Bible committees; as a participant in the Wednesday morning Men’s group; and as an usher. Jack worked for UBS Wealth Management in Chicago, as a VP in a Commodities Trading firm, and as Associate Dean of the College of Business and Economics at the University of Wisconsin, River Falls. He holds a BS degree in Business from Indiana University, an MBA from the University of Oklahoma, and a Doctorate degree from the University of Saint Thomas, St. Paul, Minnesota. Jack moved to Naples in 2016 and is a Board member of the Lighthouse of Collier.
Jack Marsh joined First Presbyterian Naples in 2005. He is a Stephen Minister, Head Usher and active participant in the Men’s Fellowship and Bible Study. Jack also served as a Deacon. After serving in the Navy, Jack ran a family business in Michigan for 33 years and retired in 2024 after a 22-year career in residential real estate in Naples. Jack is a graduate of Michigan State University. Jack’s wife of 54 years, Barb, died in 2014. In 2016, Jack married Sylvia, an active First Presbyterian member, and together they have three sons, one daughter, and seven grandchildren.
Cindy McCarthy started coming to Naples in 2006 and joined First Presbyterian in 2022. Cindy is currently a Deacon, and she has served as a Sunday school teacher, nursery coordinator, GEMS counselor, and as coordinator of our 2025 Meals of Hope packing party. A native of Western Michigan, Cindy grew up in the Christian Reformed Church. Cindy holds a Registered Nursing Degree from Hackley School of Nursing, and she retired in November 2025 after a 47-year career in nursing in Muskegon, Michigan. Cindy and her husband, Mike, have been married for 44 years, and they have three children and three grandchildren.
Marc Miller, Chair, a cradle Presbyterian, served on the Interim Pastor Hiring Committee and serves on the Mission and Stewardship committees. A member of Fourth Presbyterian Chicago for 40 years, Marc served as Elder, Trustee, and for 10 years as Personnel Committee Chair. He also served for 12 years as a Trustee of McCormick Theological Seminary. Marc holds a BA degree from Wake Forest University and an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Marc’s professional background was in strategic planning, consulting, and leading venture-backed business start-ups in the hardware/software and technology fields. Marc retired in 2023 after serving 12 years as Chief Development and Marketing Officer for the Chicago Academy of Sciences/Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum. Marc continues to consult part-time with non-profit organizations. Marc’s husband is Chris Horsman, a First Presbyterian Elder.
Dorrit Nelson, a native of Jamaica, joined First Presbyterian in 2024 and is active on the Stewardship Committee and with several of the women’s groups. She has been an Elder at Yorktown Presbyterian Church (NY), Rye Presbyterian Church (NY), and at the Moorings Presbyterian Church. She also served on the PNC for the Hudson Valley Presbytery. With an MA degree in Organizational Leadership from Columbia University, Dorrit had a distinguished career working on Wall Street for 38 years, including serving as Operations Manager at Deutsche Bank, Sales Practice Manager at the New York Stock Exchange, and Business Manager at the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). Dorrit has recently published her life story: Perseverance, Prayer, Passion. She is a member of the Naples Woman’s Club. Dorrit has been married to Will for 51 years; they have two adult children and two grandchildren.
Janet Yanushefski began coming to First Presbyterian in 1987 when she visited her parents in Naples. She joined the church in 2019, after moving to Naples seasonally from the Philadelphia area, where she attends Westminster Presbyterian Church in West Chester, Pennsylvania. Janet is Moderator of the Board of Deacons, an Usher, and Women of the Way participant. Previously, she was an Elder, Sunday School teacher, and member of the Christian Education Committee and founding board member of the Westminster Preschool. Janet holds a BA degree from Albright College and an MS degree from Villanova University, and retired as Technology Manager for SEI Investments. Janet is married to Alex, who serves as an Elder. They have four adult children and seven grandchildren.
