What We Believe

Founded in 1952 and located in downtown Naples, we say and believe that we are “In the Heart of Naples with the Love of God.” Here, “we worship, we love, we grow, we serve.” Here we welcome all and together we follow our Lord Jesus Christ.

In response to God’s grace in Jesus Christ, we seek to live with gratitude. Empowered by the Spirit, we strive to serve Christ and neighbor.

We are a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and the Peace River Presbytery.

An Affirmation of Faith that we often confess in worship and which describes well what we believe and who we are is the Brief Statement of Faith of the PCUSA. It begins “In life and in death we belong to God. Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one Triune God, the Holy One of Israel, whom alone we worship and serve.” It concludes, “With believers in every time and place, we rejoice that nothing in life or in death can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”  Our doors are open to all, and our communion table is shared with everyone. We strive to be a beacon of light in the heart of Naples, with the love of God, worshiping, loving, growing, and serving, not only within our church community but beyond.

Membership

The path to membership begins with attending a Seekers and Joiners gathering, regularly scheduled throughout the year following worship services. There, you will meet with our pastors, learn more about the church, and share with others who are on the same journey of faith.

There are several ways to journey through membership:

FULL MEMBERSHIP
Certificate of Transfer - when you move your membership from your current church, removing you from their roles and adding you as a full member to First Presbyterian Church of Naples.
Reaffirmation of Faith - for those who have previously been baptized in the name of the triune God and have publicly professed their faith.
Profession of Faith - made after attending a Seekers and Joiners gathering or meeting with the pastor and understanding the meaning and responsibilities of membership.  If not already baptized, baptism will take place prior to profession of faith.

AFFILIATE MEMBERSHIP

You retain your full membership elsewhere but consider First Presbyterian Church of Naples your church home while you are in the Naples area. You have the same benefits of full membership, but cannot be a voting member or hold an ordained position at FPCN.

If you wish to meet with the pastors, please call the church office to schedule a time. For more information, please contact Susan Pratt, Coordinator of Membership and Caring Ministry.
