Rev. Rex Childs

Rex began serving the First Presbyterian Church of Naples in July of 2018. A native of Naples, FL, Rex received his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida before attending Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond, VA. While at Union, Rex completed a dual-degree program earning both a Master of Divinity and Master of Arts in Christian Education. This is Rex's first call to a church, and he is busy working in the areas of Christian Education, Pastoral Care, and Missions in addition to helping lead worship. Rex has also served in various ways in the higher councils of the church. He served as the Moderator of Peace River Presbytery in 2020. He has also served on the Committee on Preparation for Ministry (COM) as well as the Human Resources Committee and the Steering Committee. In 2022, Rex served as a Commissioner from Peace River Presbytery to the 225^th General Assembly.

Rex is married to Cayla Childs, who is a fellow Neapolitan. Rex and Cayla love spending time with their daughter, Mary, and the many members of their extended family here in Naples. When not at church or spending time with family, Rex likes to watch sports, particularly soccer, or get out on one of the many golf courses Naples has to offer.
