Nancy Van Fleet

With over 17 years of experience in Family Ministry, Nancy has been with First Presbyterian Church of Naples (FPC) since 2018 serving as the Director of Children, Youth, and Family Ministries. She teaches chapel for the preschool and directs all the children, youth, and young adult programming at the church. She also works with the greater congregation in offering classes and opportunities to engage in a variety of Christian contemplative spiritual practices. Nancy graduated from North Central College in Naperville, IL with a business degree and has continued with religious studies at Defiance College. Nancy is a trained Stephen Minister and is certified in Progressive Youth and Family Ministry through Vibrant Faith Ministries. She was in the 2019-2021 Cohort of the Living School of Action and Contemplation in Albuquerque, NM (founded for Father Richard Rohr) and has received Certification in Adaptive and Innovative Ministry from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary (2022). Nancy continues to pursue her professional growth by attending San Francisco Theological Seminary for Certification in Spiritual Direction and serves on the Board of Directors of Veriditas while chairing their Inclusion Initiative. She also serves on the Design Team for Raising Kids for Good (RKFG), a soon-to-be nonprofit seeking to provide positive, inclusive spiritual family resources for families and churches in a compassionate, welcoming, and sustainable environment. RKFG consists of a large ecumenical group of volunteers that includes pastors, authors, mental health professionals, professors, parents, attorneys, and others working together to raise awareness of the many excellent existing resources that can be very helpful to caregivers and church leaders.


Nancy is a Veriditas Certified Advanced Labyrinth Facilitator having trained with the leader of the labyrinth movement, Rev. Dr. Lauren Artress. She works with people of all ages in classes (including her volunteer work at Avow Hospice), retreats and programs to present the labyrinth and walks with them in the mystery. Her work was recently featured in Lucy Tobias’ book, Circle the Center – Labyrinths in Florida. 


Originally from Willow Springs, IL, Nancy moved to Florida over 20 years ago. She has one daughter, Julia, who is currently working on her Masters in Mindfulness through Lesley University. Nancy creates, walks, and photographs labyrinths as a spiritual practice in her own life and also enjoys yoga, walking and nature.
