Words from Aaron: How the Way We Live Speaks Volumes
Dear Members and Friends of First Presbyterian Church of Naples,
The way we live matters. It matters not only for our own lives, as I believe faith positively shapes the quality of our lives and how we navigate the world, but for others as well. People see the way we live, and the way we live speaks volumes. In this Sunday’s lectionary readings, Philippians 2:1–13 and Matthew 21:23–32, we learn about the true nature of effective authority and how what we do is as important as what we believe. In fact, what we do, and whatever authority we might have in doing it, must come as an outpouring of our faith in Jesus Christ. This is both our goal and challenge as Christians.
Welcoming New Members to Our Congregation
In addition to our usual beautiful music and inspiring worship, along with engaging children’s and youth programs, we will also welcome new members this Sunday. Receiving new members is always a significant moment in the life of a congregation. It is meaningful that these individuals feel God at work here at First Presbyterian Church of Naples, and their presence among us is another sign of God’s Spirit at work in our congregation. I have no doubt they will be warmly received. The gracious welcome we extend to all who walk through our doors is part of who we are as Christians, and it helps cultivate a place where God’s love, revealed in Jesus Christ, is not only made known but experienced.
